    What is gum recession?

Gum recession is a common dental problem that can affect patients of all ages. Gum recession is caused by acute and/or chronic trauma to the gum tissue such as periodontal disease, aggressive tooth brushing, genetics, and orthodontic treatment. Patients with receding gums may notice that their teeth appear longer due to exposure of the root surface. Many patients also experience increased sensitivity as a result of gum recession. If left untreated, the supporting tissue and bone structures of the teeth can be severely damaged, and may ultimately result in tooth loss.

Dr. Amin can provide corrective procedures to treat recession through various techniques. Treatment options range from using the patient’s own tissue, using donated (allograft) tissue, or through Pinhole which uses a collagen matrix and requires no incisions or sutures. Each patient is unique and a customized plan will be provided to achieve the best results.

What are the advantages of gum grafting?
